Different Types Of Depression Disorders
Types Of Depression
Severe depression
It is the highest degree of disease which translates into an absolute inability to work, study, sleep, eat, or do any kind of daily activity or who produced pleasure as in cases in which abandon hobbies and recreation. Usually there is some predisposition to the disease, and although a case of severe depression may occur only once in life, it is frequent that recur over time.
Dysthymia
It is a less serious level of depression, which includes symptoms chronic long-term, usually a minimum of 2 years. It is very easy to confuse a State of dysthymia with stress or tiredness. The effects of this type of depression do not incapacitate both but prevent a normal development of the most common habits. It affects between 3 and 6% of the general population. The symptoms have been described as a "veil of sadness" that affects the majority of the activities. Patients show no apparent changes in behavior or daily behavior, although they have less energy, a general negativity, and a sense of dissatisfaction and despair.
Bipolar disorder
Also known as manic-depressive illness, is quite uncommon but not that less serious. It is characterized by cyclical changes in mood: phases of high or euphoric mood (mania) and mood (depression) under phases. Mood changes tend to be gradual but must give special attention to each of them. When the person passes through the depressive period, it is common to observe all the characteristics of a severe depression. Moreover when the manic cycle manifests, is possible that in the euphoria and hyperactivity of this phase, the person is involved in problems or developments (economic, personal, etc.) which may then not drive. Bipolar disorder is a step of a psychotic State (temporary loss of reason).
Post-partum depression
Defined in doctors treated as "baby blues", this feeling of sadness, sudden tears and concentration difficulties, they tend to occur about 4 days after giving birth, and disappear around 10 days. However they may escalate and endure. If you are in the presence of a depression postpartum and it is necessary to require professional assistance to get out of that condition.
D.A.E
An emotional affective disorder. It is the depression that occurs in the same season every year, usually during the fall or winter months. There is also a rarer kind, which occurs at the beginning of the summer and ends in the fall. This is not a normal sadness, since it persists for a long time and need to seek medical help.
Double depression
In a long-term study, almost all patients with dysthymia suffered at least one episode of depression higher (sometimes referred to as double depression) at some point in their lives. Some experts believe that these double depressions should be considered as part of the natural course of dysthymia. Women may be more susceptible to double depression.
Atypical depression
People with atypical depression usually eat and sleep excessively, have a general sense of heaviness, and a very strong reject feeling.
